How to clean Electrostatic air Filters

When cleaned as directed, your Electrostatic Air filters will give you many years of trouble free use. Failure to properly clean the filter may lessen filter effectiveness, and as with any air filters, it is possible for an excessive dirt buildup to cause air flow resistance sufficient to damage other ventilation components. Make sure you place the filter with the arrow facing the intake side.

 Simply remove the furnace air filter.

 Flush with garden hose, water in opposite direction of air flow arrow.

 Spray with one of the following, 409, Simple green or fantastic cleaner every time you wash the filter.  Leave this degreaser on the media for approx. 15 min then wash off.

Rinse thoroughly to remove remaining dirt.

 Drain excess water drip dry and reinstall.
After installation of your new air filters, check after the first month to determine the frequency of cleaning. The normal is a two month cleaning interval. Our filters have a holding capacity of 165 grams, giving you prolonged cleaning intervals.
If you have pets, you might have to clean them more frequently.

 Don't Blow dry nor wash the filters in a dishwasher! You will melt the media. Use cold water! Don't use high pressure system such as a steam cleaner, you will destroy the media.

 Always backwash your filter in the opposite direction of the arrow, never backwash your filter from both sides, you will pack in the particulates and loose your air flow and damage your filter. Also, you will void the warranty.
Just because you don't see dust doesn't mean your filter isn't working, the human hair is approx. 70 microns your filter is filtering between 1-3 microns. Plan on a two month cleaning interval, if you have pets check each month.

If an Air-tech system, inc is determined to be defective in materials or workmanship, it will be repaired or replaced without charge to the customer. Filters used for commercial use are warranted for 5 years.
